Risk Analysis and Economic Load Dispatch Evaluation of Network with High Wind Power Penetration
Authors
Abstract:
This study based on investigation for integration wind power into conventional power system with its impact on fossil fuel generators and their generation management. Wind power as environmental friendly energy source can reduce the operational cost of the system due to considering no cost for energizing the generator in comparing with fossil fuel generators. However due to unpredictable nature of the wind power, it is quite difficult to determine how much wind power should be integrated to ensure both power system security and operational cost reduction. In this study by compering both economic and security requirements using GA and PSO for smart calculation in wind power generation into the conventional system, a proper economic load dispatch program has been applied. Three different approaches (pessimistic, Optimistic and Linear) has been studied and compered to evaluate the system security and reliability with economic benefits. Due to considering no fuel cost for wind power generators, it is more beneficial to produce electrical power by this type of power resource but with more reliability for the system. At the end by compering PSO and GA results and numerical analysis on IEEE-30 bus test system with six generator, exactitude and accuracy of the proposed approaches presented.

full textRisk Reserve Constrained Economic Dispatch Model with Wind Power Penetration
This paper develops a modified economic dispatch (ED) optimization model with wind power penetration. Due to the uncertain nature of wind speed, both overestimation and underestimation of the available wind power are compensated using the up and down spinning reserves. In order to determine both of these two reserve demands, the risk-based up and down spinning reserve constraints are presented ...
full textA Multi-Objective Economic Load Dispatch Considering Accessibility of Wind Power with Here-And-Now Approach
The major problem of wind turbines is the great variability of wind power production. The dynamic change of the wind speed returns the quantity of the power injected to networks. Therefore, wind–thermal generation scheduling problem plays a key role to implement clean power producers in a competitive environment. In deregulated power systems, the scheduling problem has various objectives than i...

15 صفحه اولFrequency Control in Power Systems with High Wind Power Penetration
The fluctuating nature of wind power introduces several challenges to reliable operation of power system. With high wind power penetration, conventional power plants are displaced and wind speed fluctuations introduce large power imbalances which lead to power system frequency control and operational problems. This paper analyses the impact of wind power in the frequency control of power system...
